The Friends of the EGR Library has an active, hands-on, working board of directors who are committed to the group's mission to enrich programs and services, ensuring our library by the lake fosters curiosity, creativity, and community. As you can imagine, there is a need for “many hands” to achieve this goal. We are always looking for volunteers to help.
The Friends Used Book Sales
Held twice a year in May and November on the lower level of the East Grand Rapids community center, we welcome help with setting up and dismantling these book sales, as well as greeting customers and stocking tables during the sale itself. Volunteers are given a coupon for FREE books as a small token of appreciation for their help. Learn more and sign up to help!
Monthly Book Sorts
Held twice a month in the Friends' sort room on the lower level of the East Grand Rapids community center, we sort the books that are generously donated by the public to be stored for our large book sales.
These sorts are a fun opportunity to meet other book lovers and share book reviews and reading experiences as you work. We welcome help on
- The second Wednesday of each month from noon to 2:00 p.m.
- The fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Event and Administrative Help
Our tagline is “Think Outside the Books” because the Friends sponsors many activities and events in our community. We often exhibit at local events to spread the word about the Friends' cause and to raise awareness. We are always in need of friendly faces to help out at these events.
What's Your Talent?
As time marches on and the Friends' evolve, we are always looking for innovative ways to support and connect with our community. We greatly appreciate any and all talents and offers for help.
Please contact us to let us know of your interest in volunteering for any of these opportunities!
