What's On the Shelf?

By Patty, Book Sale Co-Chair

A huge thank you to all the volunteers and customers who made the Spring Book Sale a resounding success!

Trivia question: what is the highest number of bags purchased by one person at the May 21, 2017 bag sale? Scroll to the end of this update for the answer!

Since each sale features an entirely new selection of books, many people ask what we do with the leftovers. This has changed over the years. Years ago, an EGR Boy Scout Troop took them and had their own sale. After they no longer were able to do that, we sold them to a book dealer, donated them to a charity, and tried our own mini clearance sale.

We are happy to report that all books from this sale went to the KDL Service Center. Due to popular demand they are planning another Book Bash! The date is to be determined so check their website for details. (Kdl.org)

The EGR Fall Semi Annual Sale dates have been finalized. Mark your calendars for October 27, 28, 29, 2017.

Our generous donors are already bringing us a new selection of books. At this time we have received a large number of children, young adult, mystery, cook books, and an estate of books from the 30's, 40's, and 50's.

To improve your shopping experience, we will be adding a separate "graphic novel" category as this genre has increased in popularity and size.

As always you can find a selection of books for purchase whenever the library is open in our Corner Book Store.

Another question people often ask is "what do you do with the money from the sales?" This August and September, the main floor of the library is being renvovated. The Friends of the EGR Library group is funding this renovation!

Have a great Summer Reading summer.
